Yes, I can! If you are interested to learn what I can watch the video embedded at the end of this post!
Do you remember when I spoke about my nine steps to reduce overweight and keep fit? One of the key steps and major changes I made was to engage a personal trainer. Not going to a group exercise but hiring a trainer who works with me 1:1.
The video story (if you prefer to read the story, please continue below the video):
Frankly, as I started working with T., my trainer, I was pretty much out of shape. Not entirely; I have been playing basketball once a week, and occasionally, I went for a hike, but that was it. Besides basketball, I haven’t done much sports.
The beginning was tough. It was a new world for me. I was not used to doing exercises or exceeding my limits, and I did many workouts correctly for the first time. I recalled some of those exercises from my school years. Still, I realized that back in school, we were just imitating what our gym teacher showed us without understanding how the exercise should be done appropriately and where we should feel the stretch, which muscle is impacted by a specific exercise.
I started exercising with T. once a week in the gym and went for a walk in the wood at least once a week. Inclusive basketball, my weekly sports plan has at the beginning increased from once a week to three times a week – not surprisingly, I soon started to feel fitter, and that motivated me to keep working with T. Right these days, it’s been eight years since I work out with him.
But why is it so important to have a personal trainer? Here are my seven reasons.
- T. designs a workout program with the right balance of exercises
- takes care that I work through all my muscle groups
- takes care that I do all exercises safely and adequately
- challenges and motivates me to improve my performance continuously
- helps me to set goals
- monitors my body and health condition
- advices me about nutrition
My experience is outstanding; throughout the years, I made tremendous progress. Sometimes I also stepped back, especially in terms of being overweight, but today I can do exercises that I never even dreamed of. I will share more stories and more details in the upcoming posts.
Let’s finish with a small teaser. My trainer says I am the fittest fatty he knows. Don’t you believe it? Watch!
